June 9 & 10, 2001

Eight people came together to learn to make glass beads, little suspecting the addictive nature of the torch.

The first day, they learned to light their torches, heat the glass rod, and wind it around a metal mandrel. There were demonstrations of making dots, stringers, twisties, flat beads, cylinder beads, 3 dot flowers and more, and the class had lots of time to practice. The beads then went into a kiln for annealing, and they didn`t get to see the results until the next morning.

After sleeping on it overnight (and dreaming about it), they couldn`t wait to get started the next day. The concentration was evident, and the resulting beads were all treasures!

I hope you all get to return to the torch soon!
